Behind the Driver: June

For some reason the new month always sneaks up on me and arrives far sooner than I intend. June has rolled around and the kids are out of school for the Summer. They are looking forward to doing ride- along's with their Daddy. Home schooling them really helped their grades and we will continue that endeavor for the next school year.

The school year ended on a tragic note though. This past week I have watched some friends of mine go through a parents worst nightmare. The couple has two girls my boys ages. The mother and youngest daughter were en route to the oldest child's 8th grade Graduation and Awards Day service last Thursday morning and they got into a wreck. The child was killed instantly (she was to have graduated from 5th grade that evening) and the mother suffered severe back trauma. The oldest daughter was allowed to receive her awards, then was converged on by four teachers and her Dad and told the tragic news. I have been amazed at how well she has handled this. I know the parents are both angry (I know I would be) and although it was not her fault, the mother is blaming herself. I have no clue what to say to either of them so I just let them vent and cry. I think that is the best thing besides prayer that I can offer. They are holding off on funeral arrangements in hopes that the mom can attend.
We also had a sad time right here at home (nothing compared to the above but still sad). Our German Shepard had to be put down. He had congestive heart failure and was almost 13.

These past 18 months have showed us so much death and sadness. I can only pray that it gets better.
As for trucking, that is going well. The fuel prices are outrageous, but so far we are holding our own. Hopefully something will bust loose on that front soon!!
Stay safe and be happy!!
