Behind the Driver: May

Rewastack By Rewa Stack
Oh boy!! I thought "March Madness" was BAD!! But that is nothing compared to this month.

DA came home for a week after almost four months out. The time out was a tad much for all of us to handle. The freight was slow at the start of his time out, and then it picked up when he was going to head home, so we opted for him to stay out and every time he got close to the house another great load would come up. He finally got home and we discussed how to get more home time and still get the good loads. Hopefully it works out.

For any newbies out there reading this, No matter if he is gone a week or a month or more, it is always important to give your driver time to unwind. Let him be a vegetable and remote hog for a day or so before you want him to go out on the town or do things around the house. That truck beats them up more than we realize.

When he came home I "gave" him two days off and then pulled out the honey-do list. We got my Mom's garden planted and got some food stored for us here at the house. YES, we have started storing food. With all the prices soaring so high I figured it would be best to begin planning a tad better, as far as grocery shopping is concerned. Some people kind of scoffed at the idea of food storage, but I figure better safe than sorry. We got his shop cleaned out and have even cleaned out from under the shed in the hopes of adding another room. We also got our garden planted...wooohooo!! I love fresh veggies!

All in all, the home time was good, we got loads of stuff accomplished, and we had quality FAMILY time.

Hope each of you had a wonderful Mother's Day and until next time, be safe with the shiny side up!!
