Bill Howard Memorial Park

Mercer opens new park to honor co-founder, Bill Howard.

In 1977, Mercer Transportation was founded by Bill Howard and Jim Stone. Together they built Mercer into a nationally known trucking empire. On March 22, 2008, Mercer lost not only one of its founders, but a true humanitarian, Bill Howard. Because of Bill Howard, many lives were touched, many memories were made and many dreams came true. Bill Howard made it his life goal to help others in need. His love for his fellow man and faith in God motivated him to support many ministries and charities across the country.

In honor of Bill Howard’s memory, Mercer Transportation would like to dedicate our new park in his name. The “Bill Howard Memorial Park” will open on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.  The area features a fenced-in grassy lawn and a paved picnic area with benches.  The park is located at 1135 Main Street, across from the main building and will be open Monday - Friday from 6 AM until dusk.

In the words of Bill Howard… “Move one more load safely”.
