Clifford and Martha Monday

Clifford and Martha Monday are one of Mercer Transportation's top producers- and two of the company's biggest fans. "We love it at Mercer," says Clifford Monday. "I wouldn't want to driver for any other carrier."

Monday has 22 years behind the wheel- 21 of those as an owner operator and 11 with Mercer. Martha has teamed with him for 17 years. "My dad drove for Mercer and told me how great it was for owner operators here, " he says. "As soon as I got here, I knew I had found home. "

Among Mercer's best features for Monday is plentiful freight. "They keep us loaded and moving which means we're making the money we want to make," he says. "I don't think owner operators at other carriers are getting this level of support, freight-wise."

Each year, Mercer recognizes its top 10 producers in several categories such as Top Fleet Owner, Top Team and Top Loads Moved. The Mondays have made the Top 10 Systems team Operation several years and have enjoyed the all-expenses paid getaway weekend that Mercer arranges for those producers.

"They really pull out all of the stops," says Monday. "Dinner cruises, shows, meals, hotel- everything is top-notch."

According to Monday, that kind of recognition - and the constant encouragement they receive - makes driving for Mercer such a rewarding experience.

"They are so responsive," says Monday. "I know that whatever I need, whatever my question, they'll get right with me on it. And that's every department  - pay, operations, maintenance, etc. "

Off the road, the Mondays enjoy working on their 24-acre plot of land near Rogersville, TN, where they live in a home built in 1923.
