Driver Says Mercer is the Only Place
to be for Owner Operators
Independent Contractor Eli Wesley, who started his driving career in the military in 1964 driving tractor trailers, cranes and bulldozers, is proud to call Mercer home for the past 20 years.
Wesley, of Louisville, Ky., owns 22 trucks that are currently being operated under Mercer. “If you are an owner operator, there is no other place to be than Mercer. The pay is great, they take care of their people and they really work with you when you need them to,” says Wesley.
Wesley, who sticks to mostly local runs, adds that he can't complain about much with Mercer. “I get a lot of home time, and all of the six or seven dispatchers I work with through all of my trucks are very cooperative and easy to work with,” he says. Wesley comments that “Mercer is a great company to work for. Anyone who is interested in this business should definitely go with Mercer.”
In his spare time, Wesley enjoys restoring antique farm tractors. “I have restored four so far, and it's definitely enough to keep me busy,” he says.
Mercer freight includes aluminum and metal products, building materials, plastics, machinery, military items, cable and much more. The company offers owner operators a family-oriented atmosphere and convenient generous home time plus supplemental programs such as TripPak EXPRESS and optional worker's compensation coverage.
By operating a network of terminal/agent locations throughout the United States and in Canada, Mercer ensures ample opportunities for its contractors.
