In the Headlights: Colette Walker

Colette Walker has been with Mercer since January of 2004. She came to Mercer as a log auditor and in 2006, she joined the recruiting team. This month, Colette is recognized in the newsletter for being the smiling face on the team.  To get to know Colette better, she agreed to share a little bit about herself.

Q. What do you like most about Mercer?
A: Mercer is family owned and oriented. It seems like everyone cares about everyone else around here.

Q: What are your hobbies/interests?
A: I enjoy the outdoors whether I am camping, hiking, or just taking in the serenity of the wilderness. I also enjoy spending time with my nephews, family, and friends. I love to travel too.

Q: If you were not at Mercer what would you be doing?
A: I would travel for a while with the ultimate goal of living in a cottage on a mountainside not far from the ocean. I also want to be able to live off of my own land.

Q: What are you most proud of so far in your life?
A: I am happy that I have earned my lifestyle on my own. I appreciate everything I have, because I have earned it. I feel that if it had been given to me, I might not appreciate it as much as I do.

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Cheese & fruit

Q: What are you scared of?
A: Well, I'm scared of someone coming into my house and attacking me.  I am also scared of scary movie previews (I never see the movies because the previews scare me.) Finally, I am scared of heights.

Q: What inspires you?
A: Music inspires me to do certain things, depending on the type of music. For example, upbeat music inspires me to workout. While mellow music inspires the artistic side of me. It is easy for me to relate to music and use it as inspiration to think about whatever task is at hand.

Q: What is your favorite music?
A: Anything mellow, acoustic & reggae, but I like it all.

Q: What is your all time favorite music group and song?
A: The Rolling Stones – You Can’t Always Get What You Want. (I grew up on The Stones and have had the pleasure of seeing them live in concert 3 times.)
