July's Contractor of the Month
Jim Meadows is Mercer's July Contractor of the Month. Jim, who has been trucking for seventeen years, recently joined the Mercer family last month. Tim Starnes, a new contractor in the same orientation class, nominated Jim for helping him rewire the pigtail on his trailer. Apparently, Tim is not the only one who Jim helped. During the week he spent at Mercer for orientation, Jim was reported to have generously helped repair break chambers and even an air conditioner.
Tim Starnes recalls, "Jim is just an all-around nice guy. He was very helpful. When we were in Louisville for class, he spent evenings after everyone went home working on trucks. If there were issues with someones inspection, they worked together so that the truck would pass and get moving."
Meadows was humble and surprised to have been nominated after only being with Mercer for a month. He said, "Well, it was no big deal to me. I'm mechanically inclined and I like to help out whenever I can. I just wanted to help everybody move forward."
Their orientation took place during the first week of June and there was an unusually large class of 30 people. Due to the class size and some additional set-backs, many people found themselves held up at Mercer for additional day or two. Although it was very hectic, Meadows managed to stay positive and lend a hand.
Although Meadows has faced a couple of road bumps since he's joined Mercer, he is sure that he made the right choice. "I love it here. Mercer will have to run me off because I'm not going anywhere."
