Mercer Completes Phase 1 of Renovations

On February 8, 2008, the last departments scheduled to move to the new building were situated into their offices. The new location, on Main St. (across from the driver's lounge parking lot) now houses Recruiting, Driver Qualifications, Safety, Logs, Permits and the Facility departments.

The new building currently provides 18,200 sq ft, of freshly remodeled office space. Future renovations call for renovating the expansive adjoined warehouse, which will increase the office space to 72,000 sq ft.

The new building features two state-of-the-art orientation classrooms with stadium seating, two modern break rooms (one with a fully-functioning kitchenette) and multiple bathrooms with additional showering facilities. In addition, the street-facing parking lots have been surrounded by decorative iron security fences and new lighting and cameras have been installed surrounding the facilities.

Phase 2 of the renovations is  currently underway. The old recruiting office (building 6) will be renovated to become an expanded driver's lounge. The inspection department, which will remain in building 6, will receive a larger workspace. The second floor will be converted to a lounge area and the bathroom facilities will be updated and expanded. The old warehouse facility (building 7) will be razed to make room for an additional 19 truck parking spots.

The next renovations are scheduled to be completed in time for the Mid-America Trucking Sow in March. All contractors are invited to tour the new facilities while attending Mercer's annual Mid-America Cookout on Wednesday, March 26.
