Showusyourtruck.com's February Winners

Mercer announces the February winners of their online truck show at www.showusyourtruck.com.

Mercer Transportation selected the February winners of their online truck show at Showusyourtruck.com. This go around, the 379 Peterbilt reigned over the competition. Richard Carlson won the Mercer Contractor category with his ’05 Harley-themed Pete (top photo). In the non-Mercer category, Jarrod Russell’s low riding, “harvest-flame” Peterbilt (bottom photo) took the prize. Both winners will be awarded a $200 gift certificate from the contest’s sponsor, 4 State Trucks/Chrome Shop Mafia.

The inspiration for Richard Carlson’s ’05 Peterbilt was his Harley-Davidson Fatboy motorcycle. The Harley skull motif is depicted on the back exterior of his sleeper, and his after-market WTI fenders are accented with 3D flames. Other specs include a 272” wheelbase, 475 Caterpillar Acert engine, 18-speed transmission, and a 336 rear gear ratio. The truck features the original orange and black paint scheme.

Like a true gear-head, Carlson isn’t quite satisfied with his truck just yet. “In the future, I plan to add monster stacks with Rod Picket elbows and California-style airlines. I’d also like to rig it up so I can bring my Harley along when I’m out on the road.” Carlson, a Mercer owner operator, plans to participate in a few Pride n’ Polishes this year, and he’s interested in showing his truck at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.

Jarrod Russell’s ’07 Peterbilt features custom paint with contrasting stripes and a lowered, air-ride front end. The truck has a 565 Cummins engine and a 312” wheelbase. Russell travels in style with a state-of-the-art stereo system and two flat screen televisions.

Russell is no stranger to the truck show circuit. His truck recently won first place in the show category at the Mid-West Truck Show in Peoria, IL. Don’t let the flashy exterior fool you, this truck is indeed a work truck! Russell, who is leased to HJH Trucking in Jerseyville, IL spends his days hauling livestock throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas and Nebraska. He plans to show his truck again at the Walcott jamboree next July.

Since Showusyourtruck.com launched in January, the contest has quickly been picking up steam and more entries are being submitted every day. This spring, Mercer plans to take the Nation’s truck shows by storm, to spread the word about the contest and encourage truck lovers to check out the online truck galleries. The contest’s judging is based on classic “old school” styling’s, including custom-built, classic-inspired modifications and factory originals.
