Showusyourtruck.com's January Winners

Janwinners

On February 1, 2008, Mercer Transportation’s panel of judges determined the first monthly winners of their online truck show at Showusyourtruck.com. For the Mercer contractor category, the winner was Tim Cole’s 2007 Peterbilt (top photo), customized to resemble an “old school” fire engine. In the non-Mercer category, Brandon Waddell of Elizabethtown, KY won with his 1980 International Transtar Eagle (bottom photo). The two winners will be awarded $200 gift certificates to 4 State Trucks/ Chrome Shop Mafia.

Tim Cole’s low-riding rig, “Back Draft”, was inspired by the fire engines of the 1940’s. Among many custom modifications, the Peterbilt was painted siren-red and the original chrome fixtures were replaced with brass. Cole, an over-the-road flatbed owner operator, says that the truck is still a work-in-progress. “Mercer has kept me busy since I leased on last October, so I haven’t had much time to work on the truck. Soon I plan to modify the trailer to match.” Cole will be showcasing “Back Draft” in the working truck division of Louisville’s Mid America Truck Show this March.

Brandon Waddell’s 1980 International Transtar 4070B Eagle features the original factory frame and design scheme. As a collector of classic trucks, Waddell’s favorite model is this Transtar, which he’s named “Brandon’s Baby.” Since he acquired the truck in ’97, he’s used it to haul crushed cars and heavy machinery for his auto crushing business. In 2006, he pulled the cabover off the road to have it completely repainted and restored. Waddell says, “I always find a little tinkering to do on the Transtar. It’s an ongoing project.” This May, Waddell plans to show his truck in the Derby City Antique Truck, Tractor and Fire Engine Show in Shepherdsville, KY.

Showusyourtruck.com is a convenient, original outlet for people to display their working trucks and check out other cool rigs. The contest’s judging criteria is based on classic “old school” stylings, whether they are custom-built, classic-inspired modifications or authentic factory originals.

In January, the Chrome Shop Mafia partnered with Mercer as Shwousyourtruck.com’s contest sponsor. All winners will be awarded a $200 gift certificate to be redeemed at 4 State Trucks, America’s truck parts super store.
