Showusyourtruck.com's June Winners

(Louisville, KY) July 8, 2008 —At Showusyourtruck.com, the term “old school” can mean many things. That is very much the case when we look at this month’s winners. Although the two trucks serve different purposes, hail from different eras and look completely unlike each other, something about them is undoubtedly “old school.” It is the beautiful simplicity and clean lines of Bradley Owens’ 2004 379 Peterbilt. It is the genuinely authentic features of Tim Stevenson’s antique 1958 Hendrickson. While one truck embarks on a life-long career in trucking, the other retires as a novelty after nearly a half-century of service.

Mercer Transportation’s winner, Bradley Owens, modified his 379 Pete to satiate his need for speed (legal, of course.) Owens’ has spent several years racing dump trucks and now has similar plans for his big rig. By day, this shiny long-haul workhorse transports general commodities across the country. But with its modified 670 horsepower twin turbo engine, Owens is looking forward to competing in the upcoming drag races in Englishtown, VA this September.

Aside from the speed demon under the hood, Owens’ truck features custom deck plates, WTI fenders, 22” bumper, 8” pipes and a 280” wheelbase. In addition, the Peterbilt shines with an eye catching snow-white cab and cherry red under carriage. In the next coming months, Owens plans to make a visit 4 State Trucks for a new set of tops for his pipes.

Unlike Owens’ rig, the “Best of the Rest” winner, “Henri”, is a blast from the past. Not only is Tim Stevenson’s 1958 Hendrickson a classic, but this truck has seen it all! From 1958 to 1974, Henri was used as an over-the-road, single axle truck. Then, Stevenson purchased the truck and modified into a wrecker for a towing business. In 1983, Stevenson sold Henri to a farmer, but when the farm was sold, Henri found it’s way back into Stevenson’s hands. “Today, it’s just a glorified yard truck,” says Stevenson, who uses Henri to tow trucks around the lot of his business, 4 seasons Truck Wash in North Mankato, MN.

Henri’s exhibits all of the original classic features as well as a 220 Cummins engine with turbo and 10 speed Road ranger transmission. Stevenson and his rig have competed in South Dakota’s Wheel Jam Truck Show, and he plans to show the truck again at the Big Iron Classic in Kasson, MN this September.
