In The Headlights: Shelby Corum
Shelby Corum is the
organizer of Mercer's Mid-America Cookout.
Shelby Corum is being featured this month for her role as the Event Coordinator for the Mid-America Truck Show Cookout. Shelby is also known in Recruiting as "Shelba". The name comes from Shelby's daughter, Mikya. When Mikya was learning to talk, she always called her mom Shelba. Everyone thought it was funny, and it stuck as her nickname. To get to know Shelba a little better she agreed to be interviewed for the March Newsletter.
Q: Shelby, How long have you been with Mercer? Where have you worked?
A: I have been at Mercer for nearly 5 years. I have worked in the Log Department, the Switchboard, and in Recruiting. I have enjoyed Recruiting the most.
Q: What to do like most about Mercer?
A: Mercer is my family away from my family. I really like that people pull together to get tasks accomplished in a timely manner. Mercer is a family environment and it seems like people at Mercer genuinely care about each other.

Hello from back home again!
Well, finally March is here, and you know what that means here in Mercer Town - Mid-America Trucking Show. If you have been around Mercer for a while, you know what a big deal this is to us. We like to use the truck show as a time to cater to all of you that can make it in, and show some appreciation for all of the hard work you do to make Mercer "the owner operator company." If you are new to Mercer or the truck show, trust me when I say this; you need to get in here for the show. You will not be disappointed!
We anticipate this to be the biggest turn out ever and we are preparing accordingly. As usual, to welcome everyone in, we will have our pre-show cookout on Wednesday, March 26. Although, I must admit that this year will be no ordinary cookout. We have a big surprise in store to keep everyone entertained. What's so different? Well I can't say, but I hope you're feeling lucky because this year's prizes are going to be better than ever. We also have some special treats planned for you guys at the show, which will include our "contractors only area", perhaps a pop in from your friendly Chrome Shop Mafia and a catered lunch for you every day of the show.
This year's concert (Friday, the 28th) will be Sugarland. Who knows? Maybe, just maybe, we'll have a special surprise in store for a few lucky contractors for the concert as well. Sound too good to be true? No way - this is just the tip of the iceberg, I promise. We have worked especially hard to make this the best truck show ever and I promise this- if you come to this year's event, you WILL have fun. If you don't, then you're not even trying. This promises to be a great time and will once again show what makes Mercer different than all of the rest. We have the best owner operators in the nation and we take the time and effort to treat you that way.
If you can make it in, please do. All of this effort is wasted if you guys aren't here to enjoy it with us. In the meantime, please be safe out there on the road. Don't hesitate to give us a call in Recruiting if you have any questions about the show, or if you need help with anything at all. That is what we're here for. Thanks again for making us the best.
Brian Helton
Director of Recruiting
